JJ Poole created the genderfluid pride flag in 2012 and posted it to a popular genderfluidity Tumblr blog under the handle "lostinthoughtsandfantasies" on August 2, 2012. The five stripes represent the spectrum of gender experiences that genderfluid people move between.
Pink represents femininity. Blue represents masculinity. Purple represents both masculinity and femininity together. White represents the lack or absence of gender. Black represents all other genders, the nonbinary spectrum, and genders without a name.
The flag reflects the core experience of genderfluidity: gender isn't static. It shifts, sometimes predictably, sometimes not. The stripes are all equal width because no expression is more valid than another.
