The pansexual pride flag was designed in the early 2010s by a creator known online only as Jasper V., who posted it to the @pansexualflag Tumblr blog. The full identity behind the design has never been confirmed publicly — fitting for a flag that spread organically through community use rather than being formally commissioned.
Pink represents attraction to women, yellow represents attraction to nonbinary and genderqueer people, and blue represents attraction to men. The flag distinguishes pansexual identity from bisexual identity by explicitly including attraction to people across the full gender spectrum, including those who identify outside the binary entirely. The yellow stripe — absent from the bisexual flag — is the key visual differentiator between the two communities' symbols.
The three stripes are equal width, reflecting equal inclusion without hierarchy.
